In 1982, the DeGol family acquired over 1000 acres of land in the Scotch Valley area of Blair County. Their purchase included an eighteen-hole golf course, plus developable acreage and significant timberlands. Located just outside of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, the club needed extensive improvements. The DeGols, all avid golfers, renamed it the Scotch Valley Country Club and set about transforming it into what is now considered one of central Pennsylvania’s finest eighteen-hole golf facilities.
They built a new 30,000 sq. ft. clubhouse at the apex of the course and renovated the tees, fairways, greens, and roughs. Other improvements include more than tripling the club’s on-site water supply, adding a state-of-the-art computerized watering system, reseeding the entire surface area, adding concrete cart paths, and a complete practice facility.
The course continues to grown in renown, and is listed among the top golf facilities in Pennsylvania. Community involvement, however, remains a vital part of Scotch Valley Country Club’s commitment to serving the people of central Pennsylvania; the course is available frequently to many charitable organizations for fund-raising golf activities.
